KENTUCKY COMMISSION ON WOMEN TO COMMEMORATE WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY WITH KIPDA REGIONAL MEETING
Frankfort, KY: The Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW), an office attached to the Office of the Governor, is pleased that the League of Women Voters of Louisville and Derby City Chapter, Federally Employed Women, will be hosting the 2006 KCW KIPDA Regional Meeting on Saturday, August 26, 2006. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Lang House, 115 South Ewing Ave, Louisville, Kentucky.
The 10:00 a.m. meeting will open with a segment on “Women and Money.” The second segment will focus on the legislature and how it affects the lives of Kentucky’s women. Area legislators will serve as panelists for a question and answer session.
The 2006 KCW KIPDA Regional Meeting will commemorate the greatest single expansion of citizenship rights in the United States. “Women’s Equality Day” allows the citizens of the Commonwealth the opportunity to honor the unrelenting tenacity and spirit of those who worked to secure woman’s right to vote and also to illustrate how much can be achieved in a democratic society when its citizens unify for a common cause.
For more information on the local meeting, contact KCW Regional Coordinator, Rhonda Smith (502) 339-8878. For more information on Women’s Equality Day and the work of the Commission, visit www.women.ky.gov
