FRANKFORT, KY – July 1, 2004 – The Kentucky Commission on Women now has a new online presence. The debut of the site was announced today by Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Commission’s Executive Director, Glenda R. Woods. The site is located at http://women.ky.gov.

“This site seeks to serve all of Kentucky’s women,” said Woods. “We are providing information for those who live in the urban areas of the state as well as women who live in the most remote areas of the Commonwealth. From Paducah in the West to Ashland in the East, women of all ages have a user-friendly site to call home. We are proud that, for the first time, Kentucky’s girls will have information at their fingertips.”

The newly-designed Web site includes publications and fact sheets on women’s employment and earnings, education, and political participation. It also includes a list of helpful resources for women, as well as information on the Commission and its executive director and board members.

Several new features were added to the site, including a newsroom and calendar. The new site also features a search engine so that users can search all Kentucky government Web sites for more information on women’s issues.

Upcoming features include legislative updates on legislation of interest to women and a section designed specifically for girls.

The Commission’s new site was built by Kentucky.gov, which also built and maintains the Commonwealth’s official web site at www.kentucky.gov.
